Something a little different today. I don’t know what came over me!

TOMORROW
The sinking sun sets the sky ablaze,
Marking the end of more chaotic days.
The emerging darkness does not bring calm and rest,
But just a question, “Will tomorrow be another test?”

Will the sun be brave enough to rise,
For there is no guarantee.
Or will the nighttime monsters and pernicious lies
Snuff out what was once democracy

I hope the sun will grace us with another day
And the light we hope for will reappear.
This is no way to live,
Amidst division, hatred and constant fear.

Although some would like tomorrow
To be the same as yesterday,
It is folly to think that it could be so.
Change will come and the past will go

I only hope that as we trudge ahead
And fight to counter what we cannot see,
In the end the sun comes up
And we still have our democracy.
