We have passed the \u2018go\/no-go\u2019 window on the trip and the trip leader and the company (Adventure Cycling Association) have set up a Google Group dedicated to the ride and the group going. \u00a0Most people have checked in and it looks like it will be an interesting group of people.<\/p>\n
The tour leader is from Maine and has extensive bicycle touring experience. \u00a0There are two Brits (one 68 year old man and a 36 year old lady), one German (72), one New Zealander, a couple from Moscow, ID, a guy from New Mexico, a retired teacher from the Boston area, a retired guy who owns a bike store in Evanston, IL and another retired teacher (female). \u00a0Ages range from 73 to 36.<\/p>\n
Most of the people have some bicycle touring experience and some have a lot of touring experience. \u00a0So, I\u2019ll be a bit of a rookie but I just look at it as an opportunity to learn from the veterans!! \u00a0I have already gotten tips on tires and tubes to minimize punctures, a useful kickstand and expect a few more pointers before I leave.<\/p>\n
Like I said before, I\u2019ll either have 14 new best friends or 14 people I never want to see again!! \u00a0I suspect it will be more of the former.<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
